Club Overview:

The Undergraduate Research Society of Purdue (UGRSP), is Purdue’s premier club for all things research related. UGRSP is for students who are interested in gaining research opportunities here at Purdue. Through the collective leadership of the club and collaboration with the Office of Undergraduate Research, UGRSP has helped many students obtain research opportunities in their area of interest. The club is open to any prospective or current researchers and meetings are tailored to both prospective and current researchers.

What events does UGRSP conduct?

UGRSP hosts various events throughout the semester including a career fair prep night and a research pitch competition. There are panels scattered throughout the semester with individuals from industry, graduate school, and medical school who can answer any questions students may have. There is also a journal club where students get the opportunity to breakdown scientific papers and understand the process of creating a publication.

Why should you join UGRSP?

Research is a pivotal part of many undergraduate students’ experiences. You gain valuable experience including teamwork and lab experience. Students who participate in undergraduate research are twice as likely to graduate and five times more likely to attend graduate school. You also get the opportunity to interact with other students in your major who are participating in research. There are also various social events, scholarship information, and presentation practice. Being a part of UGRSP is a great experience and you gain many opportunities as a member.

What should you do if you want to join?

You can join UGRSP by emailing ugrsp@purdue.edu indicating that you would like to join the club. You can also follow UGRSP on Instagram at @purdueugrsp and on Facebook at Undergraduate Research Society of Purdue.
