March Madness Returns to Mackey

With the return of March comes everyone's favorite month-long sporting event. This year, the March Madness Basketball Tournament is set to take place solely in Indiana which means that Purdue’s Mackey Arena will play host to some of the electric games. This is just the second time that Mackey Arena will host March Madness games with the last time being in 1980 when they hosted a couple of first-round games. 41 years later, the arena is scheduled to host two of the first four play-in games on March 18th as well as four of the first-round games on March 19th and 20th. Even though the big dance will return to Mackey, there will be some restrictions in place for attendance at the games. Mackey’s games unfortunately will only be allowing roughly 12-13% fan capacity. In conclusion, Mackey will undoubtedly play a part in what will be a historically unusual March Madness Tournament.
